Geriatric Medicine is a sub-specialty of health care that is concerned with the elderly and the aging process. As people age, their health care becomes more complicated and delicate. Many times, an elderly person’s children become their caregivers, which can be very stressful for the caregiver as they have other responsibilities in their lives which pull them in other directions.
The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program will prepare trainees for a career in academic and /or clinical Geriatric Medicine. Upon Completion of the one year program, a physician should expect to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitude to:

Develop a career in academic medicine

Serve as a consultant in geriatric medicine

Practice primary care geriatric medicine
